Comments: The Department of Conservation contracted NIWA to provide a sub-tidal habitat map survey within the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve and three other reef systems outside the reserve.Side-scan and bathymetry surveys and video transects were conducted and the results analysed to identify broad habitat types.Five major reef habitat types were identified - encrusting inverterbrates, sponge flat, mixed algae, Ecklonia forest and shallow Capophyllum habitat.
