Comments: Zonation was used to model representation of existing extractive activities (scallop grounds, recreational fishing, snapper catch intensity, trawling, and long line fishing). The analysed data layers were raster data (gridded cells) at a resolution of 200m2. Data included in the analysis:Scallop grounds (Tucker et al. 2012)Trawling effort (Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), 2014)Snapper catch intensity (MPA Policy Habitats dataset)Longline fishing effort (Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), 2014)Recreational fishing effort (Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), 2014)Because of the high degree of local spatial variability in the trawling effort, snapper catch intensity, longline fishing and recreational fishing layers, a smoothing radii of 3 km was applied to describe resource use.
Subject: Representation of existing extractive uses in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. Areas are ranked from low to high; highly ranked areas provide the most efficient representation of a full range of extractive uses included in the analysis.
