Name: Rocky Reef - Intertidal and Subtidal

Display Field: Id

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Intertidal and subtidal rocky reef substrate in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. The intertidal (and in some cases shallow subtidal) rocky reef area has been mapped based on analysis of aerial photography by Waikato Regional Council (modified older aerial photo -derived data produced by Vince Kerr, Department of Conservation)and Auckland Council - Jarrod Walker. Subtidal rocky reef area has been mapped using bathymetric slope analysis (Met Ocean Solutions Ltd.). In some places, there are narrow strips or small areas between these two datasets where the habitat type is not defined. Where these areas are sufficiently small (generally less than 10 m across shore) and surrounding habitats are dominated by rock, expert judgement has been applied to define the area as “rocky reef”.
