Title: Prioritization Analysis - Habitats and Rectrational Fishing
Author:
Comments: Zonation is a software for spatial conservation prioritization (Moilanen et al., 2005, 2009). Zonation identifies areas important for retaining habitat quality and connectivity for multiple species, habitats or ecosystems, indirectly aiming at species’ long-term persistence. The software produces a hierarchical prioritization of the landscape based on the occurrence levels of features in sites (grid cells). It iteratively removes the least valuable remaining cell, accounting for connectivity and generalized complementary in the process. The “top 10%” of cells therefore represent the 10% of cells predicted to have the highest conservation value taking into account the input datalayers. This particular zonation analysis uses the Hauraki Gulf habitats as defined by sediments, depth and exposure and the recreational fishing layer as cost layer to create an optimized output between habitat representation and minimal impact on existing users (recreational fishing). The Boundary Length Penalty (BLP) function was used to produce an optimized and aggregated solution.
