Layer: Beach Replenishment (ID: 0)

Name: Beach Replenishment

Display Field: Beach_Name

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: The addition of imported sand to a beach is termed beach replenishment or beach nourishment. There are multiple drivers for this sort of activity taking place including the creation or restoration of amenity and recreational activities, use of sand for erosion control and restoring natural coastal defences against storm surge and rising sea levels and also for ecological enhancement and provision of bird roosting areas. This polygon dataset captures the areas near beaches that have been consented for replenishment or disturbance (typically sand imported from another area). This dataset is current for areas that were consented before mid-2013.
